ABOUT THE ARTIST

A lifelong Texan, Ron St. Angelo has had his photographs published in countless books and magazines during his thirty year association with the Dallas Cowboys. While on the Cowboys' sidelines, he has captured historic images that have included NFL record breaking titles and three Super Bowls.
Hired by Tex Schramm in 1979, he photographed the legendary Tom Landry for his official Pro Football Hall of Fame photograph. His photographs from Super Bowls XXVIII and XXX were chosen as the official NFL Lithographs for those two World Championship title games.  In 2002, he earned a Pulitzer Prize nomination for his photographs of Emmitt Smith breaking the NFL rushing title.

Born in Beaumont, Texas, Ron served two tours of combat duty in Vietnam from 1967-1973, fighting in the Tet Offensive in 1968.  He served as a U.S. Navy Boatswain's Mate aboard the USS Brinkley Bass, a Man-O-War Destroyer.

In 1989 he was awarded a Master of Photography from the Professional Photographers Association.

His work is on permanent exhibition at Dallas Cowboys Headquarters and the new Cowboys Stadium in Arlington, Texas.  In 2009 the Cowboys established the St.Angelo Signature Collection.  One of his original works is on permanent exhibit at the White House and has been acknowledged by President George W. Bush, Senator John McCain, and Secretary of State Hillary Rodham Clinton.

His career has included many significant accomplishments such as traveling to China in 1989 to instruct Chinese professional photographers in American techniques and methods.  In 2004 he was chosen as a "Legends Behind the Lens" photographer for Nikon Camera and traveled with Dallas Cowboys Hall of Fame Quarterback Troy Aikman to be honored for his lifetime achievement at the Photo Marketing Association and Trade Convention in Las Vegas.  His bestselling book, Greatest Team Ever was released in 2008 and features more than 170 photographs along with essays from Norm Hitzges.  Today, he serves as an Adjunct Professor of Photography at the prestigious Art Institute of Dallas.
